Contract Statuses define the different stages that a contract can go through during its lifecycle.
Each contract created in Enlivy can be assigned a status, making it easy to track whether a contract is still being drafted, has been accepted, requires action, has been terminated, or is in another stage.
This guide explains how to create and manage Contract Statuses.
Open the Contract Statuses settings
From the Enlivy dashboard, navigate to Settings → Contracts → Statuses.
Here you’ll find the Contract Statuses dashboard. If your organization already has contract statuses configured, they’ll appear here.
To create a new status, click Add Contract Status in the upper-right corner.
Create a new Contract Status
Click Add Contract Status.
A popup window will appear where you can configure the new status.
Complete the Contract Status information
- Direction
- Choose which contract direction this status applies to. Both contract directions covers contracts you receive and contracts you send; Receiving means the contract was issued by another organization to you; Sending means the contract was issued by your organization to another party.
- Title
- Enter the name of the status — for example Draft, Accepted, Action Required, Breach, or Terminated.
- Description
- Optionally describe when this status should be used. The description supports Markdown formatting.
- State
- Select the system state associated with the status. The available Contract States are Draft, Action Required, Accepted, Breach and Terminated. The selected state determines how Enlivy categorizes the contract internally.
- Color
- Choose a color for the status. Colors make it easier to quickly identify contract statuses throughout the application — for example gray for Draft, green for Accepted, orange for Action Required, and red for Breach or Terminated.
Example
In this example, we create a Draft contract status, applying to both contract directions, with the Draft system state, a selected color, and a description reading:
This contract status is used when a contract is still a draft.
After reviewing the information, click Add Contract Status.
Contract Status created
Your new Contract Status is now available.
Return to Settings → Contracts → Statuses. You’ll see the newly created status alongside your existing Contract Statuses.
The status can now be assigned to contracts throughout the application.
Best practice
Before creating contracts, it’s recommended to configure the Contract Statuses your organization will commonly use.
A typical workflow includes statuses such as:
- Draft
- Action Required
- Accepted
- Breach
- Terminated
Having these statuses ready in advance makes it easier to track contracts consistently throughout their entire lifecycle.
